Free, with no catch

Sending invoices should not need an accounting subscription. Invoice makes the PDF in your browser, so it costs nothing to run. A shared link is one small record, and OpenApps pays for it.

Your assistant can send the invoice.

Invoice has a public API with no key and no account. An assistant can turn the work it knows about into an invoice or estimate in one call, then hand the client a link where they can view it and download the PDF.

Full reference: /llms.txt and /openapi.json. The owner key that comes back lets you edit the invoice and mark it paid, so give it only to the person who sent the invoice.

Is there a free alternative to FreshBooks?
Yes. Invoice is a free invoice maker with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit. Make invoices and estimates, download the PDF, or send a link, mark it paid and send reminders. It does not take card payments or do accounting.
Is Invoice really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no ads and no limit on invoices. Invoices are made in your browser, and a shared link costs almost nothing to keep, so OpenApps pays for it.
Is there a watermark on the PDF?
No. The PDF shows your business, your client, the lines and the totals, with your logo if you add one. Nothing else.
Do I need an account?
No. Your business details, clients, items and next invoice number are saved on your device, so the next invoice is quicker. Clear your browser data and they are gone, so keep the private links of invoices you shared.
Can I make estimates and quotes?
Yes. Switch the editor to Estimate. It prints as an estimate with a valid-until date, and Make invoice turns it into an invoice with your next invoice number.
Can I send payment reminders?
Yes. When a shared invoice is overdue, its page shows Send reminder. It opens your own email app with a reminder, the amount and the link. Invoice never sends email for you.
Can I make recurring invoices?
Open a shared invoice and choose Duplicate. The copy gets your next number, today's date and the same payment terms. Invoice does not send invoices on a schedule.
Can my client pay through Invoice?
Invoice does not collect payments. Write how to pay in the payment instructions. If you add a payment link from Stripe, PayPal or your bank, the shared invoice shows a Pay now button. Then you mark the invoice paid.
Who can see a shared invoice?
Only people with its link. Links are long and random, so they cannot be guessed. Only someone with the private link can edit the invoice or mark it paid. Invoices you only download are never sent anywhere.
Can my AI assistant make invoices?
Yes. Invoice has a public HTTP API with no key. An assistant can create an invoice or estimate in one call and get back a link where your client can view it and download the PDF. See llms.txt or the OpenAPI description.
